Family Friendly Health Fair Scheduled in Chinook

Sweet Medical Center Hosting Various Organizations at Fairgrounds on 10/27/17

The fall health fair may be a little later this year, but there will be lots of fun and education for the whole family. On Friday, October 27th from 7am until 11am, area residents are welcome and encouraged to come to the Blaine County Event Center. There is no school that day, so bring the kids too! There will be plenty of stations for them, including a life-size Operation game built by the Chinook High School FFA. A costume contest will be held for all ages. The grand prize is season passes to the Chinook City Pool and Havre Ice Dome, second prize is a gift certificate to Master Sports and third prize is a year’s supply of new books.

As always, attendees will be able to get their flu shot, have blood drawn for health screenings and get their blood pressure checked. The Blaine County Health Department will also be handing out free home colon cancer screening kits for ages 50 – 75. The Blaine County Ambulance service will be offering free electrocardiograms (EKGs) to be kept on file at the clinic and the hospital. Carrie Mundlin, LMT will be offering free chair massages. Ashlee Motsay will demonstrate exercises. The Blaine County Library will have coloring and STEM toy stations, a reading nook and prize drawings. Additional booths will include: Plant a Seed…Read, Blaine County Extension SNAP-Ed, Youth Dynamics, Cancer Support Group, Tobacco Cessation and District IV HRDC’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program. Snacks will be served, the kids will receive a free cinch sack and the September Sweet Escapes drawing will also be held at the fair. If you have not purchased your ticket yet, there are still some available.

Nora Conner, Sweet Medical Center’s Outreach & Enrollment Coordinator is excited for this year’s health fair, “We are trying to expand our health fair to have more than just blood draws. We hope to help educate as well as entertain. So please bring the family and see what we have available!”

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the 2017 Sweet Family Health Fair on Friday, October 27th. There is no need to call ahead, simply fast after midnight if you want to participate in the health screenings.
